The Climate Change Adaptation Group within the Department of Energy, Climate and Urban Transition, embraces 14 researchers (5 PhD) with a multidisciplinary background from Biologists, Geographers, Spatial Planners, Engineers to Physics and Environmentalists. The group holds a proficient and consistent record of applied research projects. We work with public and private organisations to help cities and territories address environmental, social and economic challenges, using data, technologies and innovation to improve urban planning and management decision making
- Impact modelling (to assess heat stress /surface water runoff) and effectiveness assessment of adaptation measures.
- Automatization of indicators-based spatially explicit vulnerability and risk assessment under climate change scenarios
- Climate adaptative planning with special focus on the design of flexible adaptation pathways.
- Nature-based Solutions as climate resilient measures, effectiveness and co-benefits and innovative planning for their implementation.
- Development of dashboards and climate services for different sectors (i.e. land use, infrastructures, energy, forestry), including development of ad hoc products in the framework of Copernicus Climate Change Service.
